Christmas in the Park

Lions Park, Carpinteria

Our Santa Lucia procession took place on December 5th in a beautifully wooded setting at Lion's Park on a bright Sunday afternoon, catered by Jack's Bistro. Our hearty Scandinavian blood was not going to let Covid stop us from enjoying our Christmas party even though we decided it best to have our delicious salmon dinner outside, made even more enjoyable by the inclusion of a cup of traditional gløgg.

Our Santa Lucia this year was 11 year old Alia Matthews. Alia is a 5th grade cello player who loves to ski and sail with her family. She has also toured Denmark with her Great Grandparents. In her spare time, she takes classes in both tap dancing and ballet. Truly a remarkable young person!

Our celebration included a lot of activities with live music by the “Innovations." Christmas crafts for the children with additional merriment at a close-by playground. The auction and prize drawings were a fun way to earn additional scholarship funds.
