The Board of ASF Santa Barbara

The American Scandinavian Foundation of Santa Barbara (ASFSB) is a non-profit organization which was incorporated March 31, 1983. For 36 years prior to that date, the organization was a chapter of the national American Scandinavian Foundation with headquarters in New York, which was established in 1910 by Niels Poulsen, a Danish immigrant/ industrialist, to conduct educational exchange between United States and the Scandinavian countries.

The primary aim of ASFSB is to foster interest, communication, educational and cultural exchange between United States, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. An ASFSB scholarship program has been established in order to provide financial assistance to students who commit to continue their education.

Candidates must have an active academic interest in Scandinavian culture or be linked to Scandinavia by heritage, or both.

Norway Massacre

A dimly lit beam hovered,
Confounded to why
It lost its glow,

Imagination gone wrong,
Looking for an answer
To the very soul of its existence,

Witnessing a scarlet flow of innocence,
Once longed for placidity
And now is no more,

What has fate planned?
Cruelty? suffering?

Oh,

Peacefulness shattered,
Tears keep flowing,
Drowning the answer,

Testing the courage to keep
Loving
